The School Education Department has opened coaching centres for competitive examinations, including NEET and admissions can be done through the Tamil Nadu Government Schools portal,www.tnschools.gov.in.
Officials said they expected enrolments, which began earlier this week, to pick up after students are back from the Deepavali holidays. “We have instructed the heads of government and government aided schools to collect information about students who would be interested. The names have to be registered online by the heads of schools,” said an official. The last date for admission is October 26.
P.K. Ilamaran, State President of the Tamil Nadu Teachers Association, said a revamped syllabus was more necessary for students to face such exams. “The government should make efforts to appoint good teachers at the centres,” he said.
Centralised extra classes are being held for Corporation school students at the Subbarayan Chennai Higher Secondary School and the Saidapet Girls Higher Secondary School.
